2006 Home Stretch

December 27th 2006 in A little bit of everything, Faith

Where has the year gone to, really what happened to 2006?  When I reflect back on the last year it’s divided in to two halves (as there was a major life change in the middle of it all).  There’s no way to compare the two as it would be comparing apples to oranges. Both 6-month stretches had there ups and downs.

This next year is in the horizon.  While there were things I resolved to do in 2006 that soon became a lost thought, there were some resolutions that stuck.  This past year I really want to  (at the very least) send a birthday card to all my friends and family and with the exception of one VERY late birthday card I did – that’s a feat in itself if you knew the list I was working with.  I had set out to complete the Florida 70.3, which I completed last May and wanted to get another marathon in under my belt.  I wanted to pay off some ugly debt and I can proudly say that I did it!  In my professional career I finally had a program proposal accepted and I’m set to present at a national conference come April.  So while there are things that set me back or allowed me to get hung up I need to stay focused in the positives – in the stuff that I did do

There is also a great deal of unexpected stuff that’ll happen in a given year, with 365 days something HAS to come up!  The unexpected can never be planned for, but only given up to Him to help guide and direct with His grace and merciful hand.  When we’re looking at the Bigger picture, He in essence knows our heart and what He has planned for our life.  We have free will and make choices that may take us off the desired path, but His power is so much bigger than you or I to let that affect our stride.   In most cases our stride gets fast as we pick up the pace each time we call to Him for grace and mercy.

As the 2006 home stretch closes in it’s important to reflect back on what’s made us stronger this past year.  Hiccups are inevitable but usually if you just slow down, ask for a little help we’ll see what there is to be thankful for.

I hope to post some 2007 resolutions, per say this week but in all actuality it’ll just be areas of my life that need to be stepped up integrating more Love in to it all.

Well said Colleen. It sounds like you had a productive 2006 and I look forward to what you have in store for 2007.

Dear Colleen,
I need to make changes in my personal life, one goal is to be healthy. I had five operations that I needed to recover from, gain weight from the operations that I lost in the hospital. It is a long story, anyway, your truly inspiring me to go all the way.
I just wanted to let you know that, at my age I have so much to be thankful for, really I am blessed.
I admire your personal choices.
God will guide me this New Year.
Bless you for helping me see more of the blessing in my life.
God Bless Colleen, all the best in 2007!

It’s with a sad heart that I share this news…my digital camera is on the frits.  It ate all my pictures from Thanksgiving (downloaded but were still on the card), my trip to Mississippi and a few initial shots from Christmas.  There one minute and gone the next, humf.  I’m hoping they’ll magically appear when [...]

If you go to the photo gallery the album from Thanksgiving is up – enjoy! I still am not sure if I’ll have more pictures from Mississippi but once I get the last of the Christmas photos I’ll post those!
