We’re both training for a 5k
That’s right we’re both training for a 5k next month. Actually Scott has been running A LOT more than I have in recent weeks. He and buddy from work run on their lunch break and have endured hills, below freezing temps, and rain – reasons I use as an excuse NOT to run! They went from zero to 3.1 miles in a little over a month and have been video blogging about it over on facebook.
This morning, hubs and I ran together for the very first time – EVER. I mean we use to hit the gym together, but always on separate treadmills, always doing our own thing. I have to say it was a lot of fun running with him. We are fortunate to live in a neighborhood with lots of running distances and hills are unavoidable which is okay considering most races around these parts have hills – ugh!
We ran a 3 mile loop before breakfast, which was practically uphill the whole way. And this was my first outside run in quite some time. I honestly can’t remember the last time I ran outdoors, probably my last triathlon last summer. I’m a early morning runner (usually 6am) which in metro-atl isn’t possible, so I’m excited to have someone to run outside with on the weekends

(we are really out of breath from the hill up to our house at the end of the 3-mile run)
We work at a technology school, so it’s no surprise that the campus has a “Pi ” (3.14) mile race each spring. I got the email about it a week ago and sent it to Hubs and Lib not thinking they would take me up on the race suggestion, but since they run the course practically 5 days a week (weather permitting) they are going to race it next month! I’m stoked!
I took hubs to Big Peach Running Co. today to get his first pair of real running shoes by Saucony. He’s been having some arch pain so we got him set up with a shoe that will relieve some of that pain! And every athlete needs The Stick, so we picked that up too!
Here’s to a healthier 2010!
