Snowing in GA

February 13th 2010 in A little bit of everything

Never in a million years did I think it would snow this much in Georgia.  And really the city just can’t handle the conditions and in comparison it wasn’t THAT much.  In total we got about 4 inches at the house.  It was quite pretty but we were supposed to drive north to the mountains for a student planning retreat.  We went from Plan A to B to C and now D.    After campus closed early and the roads started to ice it didn’t make sense for us to gather and put anyone in potential harm.  In just my short drive around midtown last night, others on the road were quite erratic.  Stopping in the middle of lane to wait for a space to open in the adjacent lane.  Weaving in/out on the highway.  Oi!

I attempted to drive home a little after 5 last night and by the time I got from campus to the highway I drove one exit and turned back around.  The roads were starting to get a little too slushy and the volume was un real.  Not to mention the snow was coming down so much that it was almost blinding.  I called my training buddy and friend to see if I couldn’t crash at her place.  She didn’t hesitate in welcoming me.  Her and her hubby were more than accommodating.

Campus was still closed this morning and well in to the afternoon, so we had to postpone our planning retreat. Ironically this was the 2nd student retreat that was thwarted due to bad weather conditions…and on a Friday.  Around mid morning I made my way home, white knuckled and all!   Seriously, my hands were numb from gripping the steering wheel!  It wasn’t so much the road conditions on the highway, although the semi trucks flying by did cause some anxiety.  It was more so the road off the highway in areas the sun hadn’t had a chance to hit yet.

I made it home and was welcomed with a pre Valentine’s Day gift of a dozen roses.  Puddin arranged them himself with his mom’s approval (thanks Mama Riggle for helping). He even found the purple ribbon to add the finishing touches! In addition he and the kids cleaned the entire house, and did laundry.  Hubs ironed my work clothes too! Lunches were prepped for the week and I haven’t done a darn thing all day!

After lunch we went outside and threw some snowballs around.  Evie LOVED biting at the snowballs and chancing them around.

Here are some pictures of the snow:

So glad you made it home safely; it must have been quite tense! The pictures were beautiful. Last but not least, by any means, you have a wonderful husband and family who look out after you and do wonderful things for you, such beautiful acts of kindness.

Me too! I am so lucky!!! It was nice to come home and not have to do anything the rest of the weekend! I needed a few days off!
