Lights and sirens
As most of you know, hubs has been down for a few days with a retched cough which we were starting to think was bronchitis. It started as a dry cough, but had progressed into something a little more productive. We canceled our trip to Fl and were finally able to schedule an appointment to see the doctor, which this time of year it tough; seems everyone has something icky.
Hubs wasn’t feeling too stellar this a.m. when we were getting ready for our 8am appointment, but he managed to get out to the car. We made it out of the driveway and almost out of the neighborhood when he tells me to turn the car around. I take out a couple curbs and cruise over someone’s lawn, but I manage to turn the car around (windshield still wasn’t defrosted fully). He was breathing really loud and I was going as fast as I could back to the driveway. By the time I got parked in the driveway and around to his side of the car he wasn’t feeling at all great (mind you it’s like 20-something degrees outside and he’s sweating!). I ran inside and grabbed a blanket from the house, called for Neo to come and assist. I came back and hubs hands were funny looking. It reminded me of my Aunt’s Jo’s hands when she had arthritis. Then hubs started talking but it sounded like he had a fat lip, mouth and tongue! Freak. me. out. At some point during all this I called 9-1-1 and made the dispatcher stay on the phone with me until someone arrived and had Neo call my sil, Michelle I’m sure I asked the dispatcher a zillion times when someone was going to get here. She obliged me and tried to keep me calm.
Firemedic arrived, and this is when hub’s hands started to release and he was able to start talking normally again. Firemedic said he had hyperventilated or had a panic attack (pretty sure it wasn’t my driving). I asked if they were sure it wasn’t a stroke (perhaps I watch too much CSI). We all came inside and waited for the ambulance. Per Michelle’s instruction we had the ambulance take us to the hospital ER to get checked out. I wasn’t able to make any decisions, frantic on the phone w/ her and just ended up repeating what she was saying! I’m so glad she lives close by! She met us at the hospital and stayed with us and even drove us home. Duh, if you don’t drive to the hospital you won’t have a car to drive home in!
Hubs is resting, drugged up and I’m hoping in a day or so the z-pack will start to kick that crap out of his lungs! I hate to cook, so the kids and I might be eating a lot of take-out
Good thing, Neo knows what he’s doing in the kitchen!
Keep hubs in your prayers so he can have a speedy recovery from this bronchitis crap and enjoy the remaining moments of his vacation!
